Oscar and Bernice
This kitchen was remodeled as part of a larger whole house remodel, but it truly was the kitchen redo that made this house what it is today. Originally, the kitchen in this home was extremely small. It was U-shaped and even one person working in the kitchen would feel claustrophobic. By looking at the kitchen and breakfast table area as one big space that was "up for reinterpretation", we were able to create an enormous kitchen by moving the cooking function to the space previously used by the breakfast area. A huge island provides space for eating in the kitchen and we sill managed to find room for the breakfast table in an area that includes a new large window overlooking the backyard. Stained maple cabinets, granite countertops, tile backsplash, hardwood floors, and a new lighting package make this the most appreciated room in the house.
