Sharon and Alvin
Sharon and Alvin's 1970's home still had the original kitchen layout which divided the cooking and breakfast table areas with a peninsula and upper cabinets which obstructed views and reduced natural light. Walls were removed and then added to make a mudroom entry from the carport that also serves as the laundry center. The kitchen was opened up and the new configuration features an eat-in space at the island as well as the now wide open breakfast table area. Hardwood floors were continued from the den and dining room further helping to tie the spaces together. White painted maple cabinets were selected to keep the kitchen feeling light and a very serene granite and tile backsplash combination was used help to make this one of the most inviting spaces in the house.
